I will not forget many things about the last eight days.
Meeting up with two of the best people I've ever known, online or offline. Alpha and Carolyn, you guys are as endlessly entertaining as any given episode of Sesame Street. You're like Robert DeNiro turning into Elmo. That's how awesome you both are.
Eating at Steak & Shake. Niiice. Milkshakes: My anti-drug.
Getting to look around Milledgeville, even if the place sounds like a bad Scrabble hand. It's like they had three different names to choose from and couldn't decide on just one. Really nice place though.
Hunting for ghosts in the abandoned insane asylum. Or were we looking for Riddler Trophies? I can't remember.
Goofing around with Scribblenauts on the back seat of the car. Some of the puzzles in that game have less than complex solutions. How do you stop the ants from eating the sandwich?! Do you use a laser? Or a demon? No, actually, you just... pick up the sandwich.
Eating lots and lots of spicy food. The spicier the better, I always say. Wasabi, you are my new best friend.
Listening to Alpha's commentary on Britain's Most Haunted. "You're doing a sh***y job at your job, lady!"
Dressing up as Yu-Gi-Oh characters and being the very definition of a fail cosplayer. But I enjoyed it nevertheless! I got some very surprised looks from people when they came up and asked for pictures, only to realise it was me when I answered in character. "Oh hey, Bakura, can I get a- OH MY GOD IT'S YOU!"
Meeting fans. I don't mean specifically my fans, though they were so nice to me and made me feel like I've done something significant, I'm talking about fans in general. I've heard a lot of horror stories about animé fans in general and didn't know what to expect, but they were all so patient and polite - but very passionate and excited at the same time. I didn't have a single bad experience. I met so many great people!
Attending the Yu-Gi-Oh Photoshoot and having it turn into one big YGOTAS-fest. People were crowding around us, chanting quotes, joining in with an impromptu performance of episode one. There was a huge queue of people who just wanted to talk to me. In the middle of the hall. It was crazy. I even drew a Téa-inspired Friendship Symbol on people's hands, though I don't think it was permanent marker. Remember guys, the ink may fade, but our bond never will.
Yes,
meeting Vic Mignogna. For those of you who can't read lips, he's basically congratulating me on coming to my first big animé convention and being so popular. He was very nice, and I feel bad that I couldn't get to meet up with him again at his signings/panels, despite the fact that he wanted to. He was stalking me the whole con, making announcements on the PA saying that my car was being towed. It was crazy.
Eating so much sushi I felt like I was going to burst. And then eating summore. Wasabi!
Driving around in the pouring rain - at one point heading the wrong way down a one-way road - to the tune of
Through The Fire And The Flames. The weather does not dictate our choice in music!
Being marked by one last friendship symbol for Alpha, Carolyn, and myself as we were inevitably separated. Once again, it was like an episode of Sesame Street. Specifically the one where Mr. Hooper died.
And I won't even have to tattoo them to my body to remember.
Now then, where was I?
